Yanukovych promised to media independence

Independent Ukraine is impossible without an independent press. This was stated by President Viktor Yanukovych in the address on the occasion World Press Freedom Day. "I would like to speak Ukrainian journalists that advocate and will always defend the independence of the Ukrainian media, to support independent journalists and do anything to the criminal investigation into the death of journalist Georgy Gongadze, was brought to an end, but perpetrators are punished," - Yanukovych said. According to him, the authorities will create conditions for journalists to feel free in Ukraine. "We must ensure completion of the investigation of cases involving the disappearance of journalists," - he said.
