Ukraine's entry into the Customs Union is possible only under the World Trade Organization. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Vadim Kopylov, the press office of the deputy minister. V. Kopylov, said that when entering into any customs union of Ukraine as a WTO member must adhere to the agreements of the organization, in particular the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994, governing the formation of such unions. "Today, Ukraine's entry into the Customs Union is possible only under the WTO, which means the adoption by member countries of the Customs Union of the conditions of Ukraine", - he stressed. "So at this time the optimal level of integration, which may offer Ukraine under such circumstances, - creating a free trade zone with the CIS member countries and, in particular the Customs Union", - added the official. Now, as the rules governing the activities of the Customs Union, adopted and used by more than 80 agreements, but not all of them comply with WTO requirements. According to him, the government examines these agreements and consider the possibility of joining only to those who meet the requirements of the WTO and the agreements reached during negotiations on the establishment of a free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU. According to the Ministry of Economy, Ukraine now has existing bilateral free trade agreement with the CIS countries, in particular with the Russian Federation, Belarus and Kazakhstan. Under the terms of these agreements, the parties do not apply in relation to each other duties, taxes and charges having equivalent effect on exports and / or import of goods. V. Kopylov also reminded that within the CIS framework negotiations, in which Ukraine takes an active part, to conclude a new Treaty on the Free Trade Area of ??the Commonwealth, a project that was developed in accordance with the rules and regulations of the WTO. During his visit to Kiev on April 12 the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that the direct benefit of Ukraine of joining the Customs Union can make 6,5-9 billion dollars a year. In addition, according to the Russian premier, annual GDP growth in Ukraine will be 1,5-2% of the administrative decision-making in the field of integration. However, later in the media reported that Putin had not received the express consent of President Viktor Yanukovych in Ukraine's entry into the Customs Union.
