The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered a draft law on amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine concerning the promotion of production and consumption of biofuels. Bill № 8244 from 16.03.2011 referred to the Committee of People's Deputies Sergey Tereshchuk (People's Party) and Stepan Glusem (Party of Regions). The project envisages to make changes to the Tax Code of Ukraine, which creates conditions for the development of production and consumption of biofuels in Ukraine. The main objective of the bill is to improve the legal regulation of the biofuel market, in order to create a transparent mechanism for their production and consumption. In particular, it is proposed to amend article 14 and 229 of the Tax Code and to determine that ethanol is a product of the bioconversion of biological energy resources with a number of co-regulated and denaturing additives, and applies to heading 3811 according to the UKT VED. Recall that, despite rapid growth in ethanol production in the world, which in 2009 exceeded 50 million tons, in particular in EU countries to use only the last four years has grown to 3.41 million tons, or nearly 4 times Ukraine production of ethanol does not develop properly.
