World steel production in January 2011 compared with January 2010 increased by 5,3% and amounted to 119 million tons. This is illustrated by World Steel Association. According to the organization, the largest producer of steel is China. Here in January, 52.8 million tons of smelted metal, which is by 0,5% compared with the previous year. In Japanese factories produced 9.7 million tons of steel, which is 10,7% more than in January last year. Steel production in South Korea for the year rose by 24,2%, reaching 5.6 million tons. WSA data also suggest that Germany is in a given period of 3.7 million tons of molten steel, which is by 4,4% compared with the previous year. Italy has increased smelting by 10,3%, to 2.1 million tons, and Spain - on 4,1% to 1,4 million tons. At the same time at Russian plants in January of this year, steel production grew by 15%, reaching 5.92 million tons. Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises increased steel production by 10%, to 3.05 million tons. In Turkish factories smelting rose by 33,4%, to 2.7 million tons, while in the U.S. - by 9,4% to 6,8 million tons. In Brazil, production of metals increased by 3,8% to 2,8 million tons, while in India - fell by 0.6% to 5.61 million tons. Based on data from the organization, the largest producing countries of the metal in January were: China, Japan, USA, Russia, India, South Korea, Germany, Ukraine, Brazil and Turkey. Recall that world crude steel production in December 2010 compared with December 2009 increased by 7,8% and amounted to 116.2 million tons.
