Ukraine ready to participate actively in the development and strengthening of partnership with NATO. This was stated by President Viktor Yanukovych during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the press service of the State. "We note with great interest now are watching NATO's adaptation to new conditions. Reforming NATO important for security of its member States, and for further active involvement in the maintenance of peace and stability in the world" - said Viktor Yanukovych. The President stressed that Ukraine welcomes NATO's intention to provide more specific and effective nature of the partnership policy. "As a special partner of Ukraine is ready to actively participate in the development and strengthening of partnership of the Alliance", - said the president. "In this context, we also welcome the resumption of cooperation between NATO and Russia", - said V. Yanukovych noted that the present situation is rapidly developing: "The growth of cross-border challenges and threats, primarily non-military nature - terrorism, energy interdependence, migration, lack of resources - changes nature of the security environment. " Consequently, the President said today in order to ensure international peace especially relevant is the active and meaningful interaction. Ukraine considers it his duty to contribute to this cooperation and to participate in the improvement and development of a European system of collective security, Yanukovych said. As reported earlier, NATO invited Ukraine to explore the possibility of participation in the establishment of missile defense alliance.
