Turkey increased steel imports to 81,5%

Turkey in February 2011 compared with February 2010 increased imports of iron and steel by 81.5% to 1.59 billion dollars This is illustrated by Turkish Statistical Institute and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs. Compared with the previous month supply of metal in the country rose by 5.17%. In general, within two months from the beginning, the imports of iron and steel in Turkey reached 3.1 billion dollars, which is 54,5% more compared to the same period last year. Earlier in Istanbul Iron & Steel Exporters' Union suggested that Turkey was in 2011 to increase steel exports by 30% to 16 billion dollars, in turn, the production volumes of metal to the Turkish companies will rise this year by 16% to reach 20 million tons . First it was reported that Turkey in 2011 could increase its revenues from exports of steel by 20%, to $ 15 billion addition, market analysts believe that the volume of steel production in the country this year may reach 33 million tons.
