Opposition to changes in election law

Changes to the electoral law will lead to the curtailment of democracy in Ukraine. At the briefing said the deputy from BYUTB Alexander Turchinov. According to MP, the current changes that are being developed by the working group, aimed at preventing the opposition to participate in elections. In his view, the basic positions of changes in election laws is to control the election commissions at all levels, uncontrolled printing of ballots, as well as facilitating the procedure for the withdrawal of any candidate from the electoral process. A. Turchinov noted that in the coming months, the corresponding changes to the electoral law will be presented in parliament, and called on the existing authority to promulgate the document. "The best thing that could make the President, the best that can now make power - it does not touch the electoral law, which exists today in Ukraine, and thus provide for democratic elections in the country", - said the politician. He believes that the current electoral legislation has proved its efficiency. Recall that the National Democratic Institute (USA) came from the Working Group on improving the electoral legislation in Ukraine. "NDI has decided to suspend its activities in the working group as long as the work on the draft law does not become more transparent and responsive to different views," - noted in a letter to NDI.
