Ukrainian scientists think of the history textbook

January 14-15 at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv will meet Ukrainian historians, organized by the Teachers' Association "Nova Doba" and the research program of modern Ukraine named after Peter Yatsyk. Participation in the meeting will take about 30 historians from all regions of Ukraine. At the meeting scheduled to discuss two important and interrelated issues. This is - the question of a new textbook on Ukrainian history and construction of a new historical policy in the state. Feature of the meeting is that it combines two groups of historians - professional researchers and school teachers. "Experts will discuss the draft of a new history textbook in Ukraine, prepared by Association" Nova Doba "and financially supported by the Council of Europe. This textbook offers polieetnicheskuyu version of Ukrainian history," - said the historian, Prof. Jaroslav UCF Hrycak. Another theme of the meeting is to discuss and construct a new political history in Ukraine in general - a policy that, unlike the previous one, but even more - the current government, would lead to the reconciliation of society, not confrontation, "added historian. According to J. Hrycak, the conflict over historical memory makes it impossible to compromise in the state, it also hinders economic and political reforms. "Authorities can not hold a monopoly on historical memory. Looking for community initiatives that can withstand such a monopoly and offer a reasonable alternative," - said J. Hrycak. It is known that in October, Education Minister Dmitry Tabachnik said that Ukraine and Russia have decided to establish a working group to co-teaching tool for history teachers. Earlier, the minister also said that talks on a joint textbook on the history of Ukraine and Russia are premature. Ministry of Industry
