Russia raised export duties on petrol

As of today, Russia increases export duties on petrol by 44%, to 408.3 dollars per ton. Previously, the export duty on light oil products amounted to 283.9 dollars per ton. Initially, Russian authorities intend to raise it to 304 dollars per ton. However, later the Russian government has decided on more drastic increase in fees. Such a move of the Russian authorities was due to increased gasoline prices and shortages in some regions of the country. According to the Ministry of Energy, gasoline crisis was caused by an increase in petroleum exports by 67%, and the retention of fuel by large companies. According to the Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, the suspension of exports of gasoline from Russia will not lead to any deficit in Ukraine. In particular, he stressed that Ukraine has created a surplus of fuel and the situation is under government control. The Prime Minister also noted that deliveries of oil products from Russia and Ukraine accounted for 25% of total imports. "It's a lot, but still not so much. Now if he was 80-90%, maybe would have been some anxiety, as well - there is no alarm," - said Mykola Azarov. Ministry of Industry
