B Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered a draft Law on Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on measures to ensure adequate implementation of state control (supervision) of food products. initiators of the bill № 7553 of 12.01.2011 was made deputy OU Andrey Davidenko. As stated in a memorandum main purpose of the adoption of this bill is to improve consumer protection, the elimination of "white spots" in the legislation, including the control and supervision by the state for safety and quality of food products. And also a clear delineation of oversight responsibilities between the executive authorities: the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Gospotrebstandart by establishing specific powers, according to the requirements and provisions of the Constitution. The bill provides: - A clear alignment of terminology, particularly the terms "standard" and "technical regulations" in conformity with applicable laws and requirements of the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade and the Agreement on Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures of the World Trade Organization - Amendment concerning the establishment of criminal and administrative liability for false product, the production or sale of substandard products; issuance, placing on the market and distribute products that are not meeting the requirements of security issuance, placement on market and distribute products without adequate information about it, the distribution of products that have been banned, non-compliance with transportation and storage of goods; use of unofficial copies of regulatory documents.
