Including the production of refined zinc in the period totaled 1.09 million tons, consumption - 1,065,000 tons. In Western countries, the market of refined zinc in March showed a deficit of thousands of tons, demand for the metal was 567.5 thousand tonnes of production - 566.5 thousand tons. According to the World Bureau of Metal Statistics, the global zinc surplus in January-February 2011 amounted to 118 thousand tons. Demand for the metal in the world market in a given period compared to the same period last year grew by 120 thousand tons. Demand in Japan amounted to 77,2 thousand tons, a 7.4% decrease compared with last year. In turn, China's demand for zinc has reached 802 thousand tons, accounting for 41% of its global total.
