EU extends sanctions against Lukashenko

The foreign ministers of the EU meeting in Brussels agreed to expand sanctions against Belarus - According to sources in diplomatic circles. It is reported by Radio Liberty. Officially, the decision of Ministers will be announced later. Before the meeting was expected to be expanded list of individuals who will be denied entry into the EU's foreign assets which will be frozen. The list already included the president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and the people in his entourage. In addition, it was expected that the sanctions will be imposed on a number of major Belarusian Addiction. Extension of sanctions came in response to made in Belarus court sentences on protesters in Minsk on 19 December - in particular, the former presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov, who was sentenced to 5 years imprisonment. As reported previously the Foreign Minister of Poland, Germany and France have condemned the situation in Belarus and expressed their intention to impose sanctions against the country.
