The World Bank will be sponsored energy sector of Ukraine

Canada is very much nedoinvestirovala in the energy sector over the past 20 years. This was stated by World Bank Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Martin Raiser, in an interview with The Mirror of the week. Ukraine. "This understanding leads to action. It leads to the realization that to attract the investment needed better regulatory policy, a better economic environment, better management of tariff policy and, of course, the transparency of these and other important processes for the Ukrainian society," - he stressed. With specific regard to World Bank investments in the energy sector of Ukraine, according to him, the WB has invested in Ukrhydroenergo (draft replacement turbines on the Dnieper cascade), and also funded a project Ukrenergo aimed at increasing safety and reliability of energy supplies (upgrading transmission lines) in Crimea. The total planned project cost is 238 million dollars, but it is not yet complete - is at the stage of the tender procurement of equipment and services. "It is clear that these projects were delayed, particularly in the bidding process. And we do care. But frankly, I must say that Minenergougleprom and Ukrhydroenergo and Ukrenergo over the past year have made significant progress in project implementation. So that will move forward ", - said M. Reiser. Speaking about the priorities of the World Bank's energy projects in Ukraine, the bank manager said that in recent years they have changed to: "Absolutely. You can see that in the electricity industry, we started with the stabilization problem, and now the next step is the expansion and integration into the European grid. At the same time not only we, but accelerate investment in energy efficiency, as it necessarily would allow Ukraine to become self-sufficient in most areas of energy and truly realize their potential, including tangible export. It was reported that in 2010 the volume of business investment scope of the Industrial Policy to improve the energy efficiency of production was around 1.5 billion USD. Full implementation of planned activities in this direction will save over 3.5 billion USD. Ministry of Industry
